Vintage Clothing. It’s chic, unique, and (let’s face it) sometimes smelly. That 80′s printed shirt has the potential to become the next big thing, the new “it” in your style repertoire. And while appropriating vintage is the thing to do nowadays; who did it originally belong to? Where does it comes from? What has it seen and what is it willing to tell? The new monthly TFT segment, “THE (HI)STORY OF VINTAGE”, attempts to answer those very questions in a creative way:
(1) Each month, I go out to a vintage store and purchase an item of commendable character. (2) Cara Shaffer, a fantastic writer, close friend of mine, and Wes Anderson-like English prodigy, will then write a creative story imagining where the garment comes from, who it belonged to, and what adventures it lived through. (3) Based on Cara’s (hi)story, I design and shoot a themed portrait to be featured on TFT along with the story.
So stop musing about the mysteries of vintage and come read all about it on TFT. Cara and I are currently working on the very 1st (HI)STORY OF VINTAGE edition, which will be ready to publish next week!
